From Websites To Funnels: Why I Made The Switch

From Web Design to Funnels: Why I Made the Switch (And Why It Matters for Coaches & Service Providers)

When I first started building websites, I thought making them beautiful was enough.

Clean layouts, nice colors, polished pages. I assumed that was the whole job. But after working with different clients, I started noticing patterns that made me pause.

  • Many business owners wanted a website because they believed it made their brand look “legit.” Once it was live, they updated it occasionally...but that was it.

  • Most saw their site as a portfolio or digital brochure, not as something that could actively bring in clients.

  • Few had ever heard of “conversions” or funnels.

  • Many weren’t driving steady traffic and when they did, their visitors had no clear direction.

  • My e-commerce clients made sales, but often without a strategy to maximize results.2. Convert traffic into leads

Looking back, I realized I was wearing more hats than I thought. I applied for work as a web designer, but I ended up helping with graphics, shop management, email marketing, even Pinterest. I didn’t recognize it then, but I was already diving into digital marketing.

The missing piece clicked for me when I stumbled across landing page design and eventually, funnels. That’s when I realized: if I’d known about funnels earlier, I could have guided my clients beyond “just a website” and closer to what they really wanted: clients and sales.

Websites or Funnels?

Think of your website as your home base. It’s where people can browse your services, read your story, and hop between pages at their own pace. It’s like a brochure: useful for information, but not built for action.

A funnel, on the other hand, is like your silent assistant working 24/7. Every section, button, and step is designed to guide someone toward a single action—whether that’s booking a call, joining your list, or making a purchase. Instead of leaving visitors to wander, you’re gently leading them down a clear path.

Why Funnels Matter for Coaches & Service Providers

This difference might seem small, but it changes everything—especially if you’re a coach or service provider. While a website tells people about you, a funnel helps people take the next step with you. That means less energy chasing leads on social media and more energy serving the clients who are already interested.

And that’s the beauty of it: you don’t need to post every day or rely on “luck.” What you need is a system that quietly runs in the background—building trust and guiding people toward working with you.

New Passion Unlocked

Now that I’ve discovered funnels, I’m taking it one step at a time—learning, practicing, and applying strategies to design not just prettier websites, but smarter ones that support real growth.

And if you’re curious about how this could work for your business, I put together a free mini-guide just for coaches and service providers. You can download it here.
